Root Canals are pain free procedures. Dr. Schneider always assesses each patient carefully before moving forward with any treatment. Therefore, before she proceeds with any treatment, the doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to clear any infection that might be causing pain and to ensure that you are able to get completely numb at the time of treatment. Only after Dr. Schneider ensures that you are numb, she will begin treating the tooth. The doctor will clear away any present decay and open the root canal. After thoroughly cleaning the root canals, the doctor will seal the canals and fill the tooth with a white composite material. When the root canal is complete a crown is recommended to protect the tooth structure.
*After treatment is complete you can chew on the tooth immediately, but please always be careful chewing until the numbness wears off as we do not want you to accidentally bite your tongue or cheek.
